Cooldowns

Your strategy for Cooldowns should basically be to know immediately when important cooldowns become available. Furthermore, it may be useful to know before they become available - which means some sort of timer. If you've got 15 cooldowns you're actively using, there's no way you're going to remember everything in your head. Thus I prefer to use the following addons:

Your end result should be whatever you need though - if you have fewer cooldown and want to save the space that a fullblown cooldown bar addon would use, then by all means don't use one.

In this video, a few good methods of tracking cooldowns are introduced. First and foremost is the pulse cooldown addon Doom's Cooldown Pulse, which will flash an icon of any ability becoming available to use. Second is a configurable cooldown bar addon called Cooldown Watch, an amazingly lightweight addon that will allow you to track only cooldowns that you deem important. Finally, the video addresses the viability of using a combination of OmniCC and a bar addon to show large, permanent icons for different cooldowns.
